As the Chaplain here at ACC - Darling Downs I find myself increasingly leaning on the power of prayer. So often I hear or experience things that leave me speechless with no other option than to give the circumstance over to God in prayer. When I don’t know what to say or what to do or where to go - Pray. Perhaps you feel the same way. The goodness of God is such that not only does prayer result in a peaceful release from the anxiety of the moment, but I have seen firsthand God answering prayer and intervening in ways that can’t easily be explained away. In short, prayer works. This is my experience, and I know for many of you it is also yours. With this being the case I think it’s sad that coming before God in prayer is often the last resort, rather than the first response. I believe God wants this school to be a school that takes prayer seriously. To see this happen, I’ve recently implemented two exciting new things:
A student-led weekly Lunchtime group called JOLT (Jesus Over Lunch Time) - where students can come and have their Faith in God stirred, and use their God-given gifts and talents to bless the school.
A School Prayer Box (see image attached) - located in the Front Office, this is where anyone connected with the school community (students, staff, families, etc) can anonymously write prayer requests. Myself and the students in JOLT will pray for these requests.
I am looking forward to seeing how God answers these prayers. If you do have a prayer request, please do add them to the Prayer Box. Let me leave you with this Bible verse:
Matthew 21:13a
And He said to them, “It is written: ‘My house will be called a house of prayer’”
