Today the Year 8 and 9 students volunteered a small amount of their time to pick up litter on either side of Ninth Road. This idea was inspired by one of our students, and it didn't require much time at all to put it into practice. Each one of our students donned gloves and a HighVis vest and went walking down the road. It was great to get out of the class and do something worthwhile for our local community. Here are some thoughts from the students themselves.

Ruth - I'm glad we went out and made a difference, even though it was small.

Madison - I thought picking up rubbish was a good idea because it was helpful to the street and the people around us.

Chantelle - The litter pickup was a great idea! We got to experience the joy of helping others by picking up rubbish around their area as well as ours.

Ruby - I thought it was fun and a great way to get out of our class and help out. We saw just how much rubbish can hideaway in the grass, and that after time if it is not dealt with, gets hidden under the dirt. It did get pretty dirty and grubby, I think the gloves were a good idea, especially for some of the slimyish stuff.

Alexander - I'm glad we all did this to help our community and build more character in our lives. It may not have changed the world but it has changed us in some way.
