Our Year 7 students recently showcased their entrepreneurial skills during an exciting and successful Market Day! As part of their Economics unit, they were tasked with designing and managing their market stalls, applying thier lessons on budgeting, advertising and profit-making. Students were asked to work with a $20 budget, creating a variety of products and experiences, ranging from homemade sweets and creative crafts to engaging games and activities.
Equipped with ACC credit cards and a $5 spending limit, students explored the stalls, made thoughtful purchases, and tracked their spending. Every donation and purchase supported Samaritan’s Purse: Operation Christmas Child and the Siyathuka Burlington Homework Club.
Market Day not only highlighted students' creativity and business skills but also gave them firsthand experience in running a small business. They learned how to attract customers, manage expenses, and calculate profits. Afterwards, they reflected on their successes and areas for improvement, gaining valuable lessons for future ventures.
