This term extends our learning about matter, atoms, and molecules. We learned about changes that matter can go through. There are reversible and non-reversible changes. Reversible matter that can be undone is melting or freezing. Some materials can change between solid and liquid, by adding or removing heat. A matter that is non-reversible is an egg. Our Year 3 and 4 students explored this by making ice cream.
Students predicted the ingredients and processes required to make ice cream. The outcome was that most students' ice cream turned into a soft solid, and some stayed in a milkshake format as they did not add enough freeze.
A great experience to learn, and to enjoy eating afterwards.
