On 10 May 2024, the Year 8 and 9 students embarked on an educational field trip to Lake Clifton. This trip allowed the students to better appreciate God’s character as our excellent and magnificent Creator.
One of the aims of the field trip was to examine thrombolites and their connection to the formation of iron and its significance to life on Earth. Additionally, the students explored the area's rich biodiversity, including the flourishing native flora, such as the Tuart trees.
The field trip provided a hands-on experience with the local peppermint trees. Students measured, observed, and recorded the circumference of at least 20 peppermint trees. This data collection allowed them to analyse trends such as the age of the trees and their distribution in the vicinity. The final stop was at the Giant, Jyttes Hytte, where students could appreciate the use of sustainable materials in creating impressive art pieces.
Overall, the trip was a unique blend of enjoyment and education, offering many learning opportunities that are not easily replicated in a classroom setting.
